Lessons from Bouchercon

Saundra recently attended the Indianapolis Bouchercon, the annual gathering for writers and fans of crime fiction. She brought away with her some good information and lessons for all of us, regardless of the kind of writing we do.

Here are some notes she took on Expanding Your Character, a session given by literary agent Donald Maass. And in another post, Saundra tells us how to complicate the lives of your characters.

I'm planning on attending the 2011 Bouchercon in St. Louis, when my favorite contemporary author, Robert Crais, will be the guest of honor. I look forward to hearing from Saundra on how to make the most of my attendance. For anyone who is interested in the event in 2010, it will be in San Francisco and the guest of honor will be bestselling author, Lee Child.

For a fan's view of Bouchercon, rather than an aspiring writer's view, blogger Jen Forbus (Lorain, Ohio) shares her experiences here, here, and here.
