Our next assignment is to do two character sheets; one for a person you actually know and one for a fictional character of your own creation. Most of us, excepting Saundra, have never done character sheets before. If you are having or anticipate having some difficulty with this assignment, here is a link to a sample character sheet.
You will note that the sample is fairly lengthy. Don't think you have to complete this entire sheet (twice!) for the assignment! By no means. I just wanted to pass this along as a helper in case you get stuck trying to describe your characters. This should give you an idea of some of the character's attributes that can be important in developing a fully-rounded character. But I think if all of these things were included about every character in a story, that story would quickly get bogged down.
Having some of these attributes in mind, even though they may never be directly mentioned in the story, may help you to develop dialogue, attitude and motivation for that character.
Good luck on the assignment!

Fwd: Next meeting of writers' group & holiday lunch
I like Leslie's idea (see her note below). If you agree, please bring a USED book, magazine, or audio book to the meeting this Friday for an exchange. And any extra or unwanted items can be donated to the library for their shelves or for their FOL book sale.

Naomi,
What do you think by having everyone bring in a used book, magazine or book
on tape to exchange, on Friday. Something they would like to pass on. If you
think it is a good idea, will you list it on the blogsite and send a message to
the group. Do you have us in a group, so it would be easier? Let me know,
please.
Leslie

Holiday inspiration
Be sure to check out the latest post at Saundra's blog. She addresses 'Holiday Melancholia,' to which I am subject myself, and she offers some wonderful suggestions to fend off the blues that are so prevalent at what should be such a joyous time. And she inspired me to think of the perfect gift for that one sister I want so much to honor.

Assignment #5 and holiday lunch.
At yesterday's meeting we mistakenly thought that we were meeting on December 18, but the correct date for our next meeting is December 11. As in years past, we plan to adjourn the meeting early, about 11:30, so that we may gather for a holiday lunch at the Florentine Restaurant, 907 W. Broad Street. For those who wish to participate, lunch will be Dutch treat. Please let me know by December 4 whether or not you plan to attend so that I can make a reservation for the appropriate number of diners. My email is beauvallet@aol.com.
The assignment for the December 11 meeting is to imagine that robbery is legal. Turn your imagination loose on how that would work: Does a robber need a license? Is there a minimum or maximum that can be robbed? Does the robber pay taxes? What about those who are robbed, is it legal for them to defend themselves?
